Here are a few recent things I’ve come across I thought everyone might enjoy:
- “Algebra in Wonderland” — NY Times Opinion writer Melanie Bayley suggests that Dodgson created Alice in Wonderland as an analogy for mathematics
- Steven Strogatz, another NY Times Opinion writer, has written a whole series of articles recently on math, written for the nonmath audience. I linked to his first article a while ago. Since then, he has also written “Rock Groups,” “The Enemy of my Enemy,” “Division and Its Discontents,” “The Joy of X,” and most recently, “Finding Your Roots.” Enjoy!
- Steven Strogatz was also a guest on NPR’s Science Friday, and this interview was aired a week ago. It’s an easy listen.
Okay, I think you’re all caught up on the math world :-).
